The Plan

One day not too long ago I came to a realization that my time as an undergraduate student at Queens was comming to an end. Like the majority of people who have this epiphany. I had to think about what I could possibly acomplish with after aquiring undergrad degree. Many crazy thoughts occured to me, including getting a job. That idea was quickly turned down as I would like to take some time off and have some fun, besides I have the rest of my life to work. Another idea was to do some summer school courses, which was also shot down to for the same reasons as getting a job. One good sugestion was to spend the summer backpacking Europe, exploring all the sites that Europe has to offer and seeing a few old churches and aquaducts along the way. Then one day after sharing a bottle of wine with my Queens friend Katie we came up with a crazy scheme to go on one huge bicycle tour of Canada, from Coast to Coast. Yes it does sound crazy and at first we were pretty sure that it was. Then, however, after several calculations involving average bicycle speeds, the length of the Trans Canada Highway, wind speed and direction, and the average blackfly population per square meter in Northern Ontario. We decided that it was entirely possible to do.

Now it's been several months since that crazy idea was entertained. We have plane tickets, bran new road bikes loaded with everything we need and a will and determination to experience all the Provinces of Canada one kilometer at a time. We will be dipping the front tire of our bikes in the Pacific Ocean on June 5th and starting this adventure East.
